ACDC Express is an electrical retail franchise, specialising in everything electrical. Established in 2007, our core focus is to provide customers with quality electrical solutions.

We offer a full turn-key solution and a unique concept store that provides customers with a convenient and versatile shopping experience, allowing customers to browse at leisure in what is effectively an electrical 'supermarket'. 

Our independently owned stores are primarily supplied by ACDC Dynamics, which boasts a product range of over 95 000 individual items.

The Franchise Opportunity
ACDC Express is a unique retail store concept — an electrical ‘supermarket’ — where customers can browse at their leisure. Their highly experienced technical staff can offer advice and recommend solutions to address customers’ needs. 

ACDC Express’ product range includes LED Lighting, Wire & Accessories, Sockets & Switches, Security, Solar wind generators, Test Instruments, Fans & Heaters, Circuit Breakers, Motor Control, Audio & Visual Alarms, Solar Street, Sensors, Pumps & Irrigation, Pushbuttons, Generators Diesel & Petrol, Power Supplies & Ups, Flameproof, Switchgear, Smart Home Automation, Power Tools, Industrial Lighting, Timers & Electronic Relays, Mining Equipment, Electronic Components, Transformers, Temperature Control and Decorative Lighting.

ACDC Express caters to households (DIY customers), contractors, the industrial, agricultural and mining sectors as well as manufacturing customers. 

Franchisees can choose between a large ACDC Express outlet and an Express Standard Store, typically better suited to small towns. Large outlets require premises of between 500m2 and 700m2, of which 75 percent is allocated to retail space. In comparison, an Express Standard Store occupies between 350m2 and 500m2 with 75 percent of the floor area dedicated to retail space. The franchisee will be required to employ a bookkeeper, store manager and sales staff.

Franchisor Support
In terms of the franchise network and the Franchisor’s ongoing commitment to its network of growing franchisees, ACDC Express Franchising will honor its obligations in the following manner:
  • Recruitment and selection of franchisees.
  • Approval of sites (approval of lease).
  • Advisory role in terms of store set-up.
  • Provide project plan, site specifications and where applicable, preferred contractors.
  • Training of the franchisee.
  • Assistance with the initial recommended order.
  • Additional responsibilities to be taken care of by the franchisor:
  • The franchisor shall provide the franchisee with advice and consultation of the following:
  1. Internal and external signage for the premises;
  2. Initial set-up requirements;
  3. The location of the premises;
  4. ACDC Franchise’s systems;
  5. The launch of the business whereby the cost will be incurred by the franchisee;
  6. Advice on the management and accounting aspects of the business; Advice regarding the layout, fixtures and fittings of the premises, equipment selection, and computer hardware and software. The costs thereof are to be funded by the franchisee;
  7. ACDC Franchise undertakes to provide the franchisee and its staff with adequate training to enable the staff to meet the requirements of the agreement and manuals. Should certain parties not meet the required competency levels of ACDC Express it shall inform the franchisee accordingly;
  8. ACDC Franchise undertakes to provide the franchisee and its staff with adequate training to enable the staff to meet the requirements of the agreement and manuals. Should certain parties not meet the required competency levels of ACDC Express it shall inform the franchisee accordingly 
  9. ACDC Franchise will provide the franchisee with a manual(s) specifying certain policies and procedures the franchisee must adhere to in the management and operation of the business.

  • Building the brand
  • Ongoing training
  • Research and development
  • Sourcing new products
  • Approval of secondary suppliers
  • Supplier quality control
  • Benchmarking on performance
  • Field service systems
  • Examine management accounts from the franchisees on a monthly basis
  • Communication: initiatives as specified
  • Systems development
  • Approval of local marketing initiatives
